Trevor Sorbie Beautiful Volume Dry Shampoo (review)

Trevor Sorbie Beautiful Volume Dry Shampoo
Trevor Sorbie only makes one dry shampoo, and it is a part of his 'Beautiful Volume' range, which promises to “revitalise” hair, leave it “smelling great” and “feeling fuller and thicker”. It works in the same way as most other waterless shampoos using rice starch to mop up excess oil which not only makes your hair look fresher, but Trevor Sorbie claims it leaves your hair with more grip for styling, too.

It's certainly easy to use; the spray is accurate and the jet isn't too concentrated. The powder, while a little white, is very easily massaged in. I found Trevor Sorbie's dry shampoo one of the easiest to make disappear, it left hardly any trace on my hair. I don't find the volumising aspect very long lasting, though, which is strange bearing in mind the branding. Oil absorption ability is also only average yet it's far from the cheapest dry shampoo on the market.

150 ml isn't a lot of product, but it does mean it's easy to pop into your bag for a quick touch-up after work as it won't take up much room. It's quite highly fragranced without being strong enough to overpower your perfume, but it smells nice either way, and easily disguises the tell-tale sign of dirty hair.  You can finish off with the matching Trevor Sorbie Beautiful Volume Hairspray, too.

What I take issue with the claim that it can be used to “create a messed-up, straight out of bed look”. There doesn't seem to be enough texture to achieve this; the powder is quite silken – which is great for smoothing – but it's not so good for a grungy, just-come-from-the-beach look. That's not really my 'look' anyway, so I still rate it highly.

Light powder disappears quickly
Not great for thickening
Doesn't weigh hair down
Some cheaper rivals work just as well
Keeps you looking fresh for another day
