Fenjal Vitality Revitalising Body Wash (review)

Fenjal Vitality Body Wash
Fenjal has expanded their traditional range (now called Classic) with a selection of 'Vitality' products, designed for maturing skin. Ingredients include regenerating grapeseed oil and nourishing vitamins and is available as a body wash as tested here, a body scrub and body lotion. Fenjal claim that this cleanser is gentle yet invigorating leaving you with 'radiant, lasting silky soft skin'. Fenjal makes a big deal out of the fact it's a Swiss brand and Swiss made; they mention it three times on the packaging!

This really is an indulgent product to use, which seems strange considering showering is one of life's basics! It almost matches L'Occitane's Amande Shower Oil for luxuriousness, which is no mean feat, and a product both Richard and I rate highly. The really creamy formula lathers brilliantly (no surprise considering it – unfortunately – contains Sodium Laureth Sulphate) but isn't drying on my oily skin. It's even creamy enough to double up as shaving foam.
It also smells really lovely: flowery and fresh. It leaves your body feeling quite nourished after use, so it should be OK for dry skin types, but it also leaves a slight fragrance on your body even after you've dried off. It's not strong enough to distort perfume, so I like it. The fragrance itself is generically named as 'parfum', which could be any number of ingredients which don't have to be disclosed. Something to be aware of you suffer from sensitivities. It is made without parabens, silicon and mineral oils as well as being colour-free, though.

I'd really like this in a bigger bottle, as 200 ml doesn't go very far, but it's not particularly expensive and there are often offers available on the high street where Fenjal is readily available. I'd also like to see them reformulate their body washes without SLES as it's a totally unnecessary ingredient that's been surpassed by less irritating alternatives. However, I wouldn't let that put you off, as it really does make a daily chore less of a bore!

YES!
NO!
Feels more luxurious than the price would suggest
While Fenjal avoid parabens & mineral oils, why they still use SLES is beyond me
Great fragrance
Small bottle doesn't last very long
Creamy, luxurious lather

  1. It made me laugh that you've tested a product aimed at 'maturing' skin. Feeling sensitive about your upcoming birthday by any chance? :P

Your present and card are in the post!

  2. I figured you're never too young to start with the anti-ageing products. The test will be when I next buy alcohol. If I'm ID'd again I'll know I'm on the right track. :-P
