Happy Hair Days Pomegranate & Ginger Moisturising Shampoo and Conditioner (review)

Happy Hair Days has a range of shampoos and conditioners that must be amongst the loveliest smelling on the market. I was particularly drawn to their Pomegranate & Ginger Moisturising range, not just because it smells lovely (really gingery and fruity!) but also because it targets dry hair with a natural formula. The fact you also get a big 300 ml for under four pounds is brilliant. This is one of the best value natural haircare ranges I've ever come across.

Happy Hair Days Pomegranate & Ginger Shampoo & Conditioner
The Pomegranate & Ginger range is moisture-rich to 'restore shine, flexibility and condition'. It is free from SLS/SLES, mineral oils and all parabens; there is 'parfum' but generally this is a good natural range that I have no qualms about using. It's made with real pomegranate and ginger extracts, the latter is pleasantly strong giving the products a vibrant, spicy punch which is a welcome difference to the rather bland Waitrose Organic Moisturising Shampoo and Conditioner.

The translucent shampoo is quite runny but lathers very well. Even on greasy, product-laden hair I managed to get a OK lather first time; second time around my hair was full of bubbles – and again, this shampoo is SLS/SLES free, so it can be done! The shampoo doesn't strip my hair bare, it cleanses it gently so it's probably suitable for even sensitive scalps. It even rinses out easily – I can't fault it.

Conditioning is almost as pleasant. The creamy white lotion (it's lighter than cream) needs working into your hair for it to work properly, but it's worth the extra bit of effort because after rinsing I found my hair was soft and smooth, and when dry the frizzy bits I had pre-washing had gone. It didn't even weigh my hair down.

As far as I know Happy Hair Days is no longer available in Boots where I bought it originally, but Sainsbury's still sell it. I'd definitely pop into your local store and have a look at their range, there's Colour Care, Smoothing and Thickening products for your perusal, and if they smell as lovely as this Moisturising range does, you're in for a treat!
