Superdrug Head In The Clouds / Floating On A Breeze Dry Shampoos (review)

Unlike Boots who only offer their own-brand dry shampoo in one generic fragrance, Superdrug have gone all out and created five mainstream varieties. There's Away With The Fairies, Heart On Your Sleeve, Spirit Of The Carnival, Head In The Clouds, Floating On A Breeze – the last two tested here.  For brunettes there's a sixth version called Chocolate Brownie, too.

Superdrug Dry Shampoos

Floating On A Breeze is packaged in a can highlighted with blue to reflect the ocean-inspired fragrance, which is one of my all-time favourites in the dry shampoo market. It's very fresh, not at all cloying and leaves my hair smelling like it's just washed. It's more successful than the orange coloured Head In The Clouds which is generic citrus, but both are superior to the Boots version mentioned earlier. They certainly make me want to try the rest of the range.

Their performance is also good. The oil-absorbing properties are perfectly average for the market, but what impresses is the price. At under two pounds a can they're very good value for money, so the fact they work effectively is really impressive. OK, so they are a bit white on initial application, but not massively so, and alright, the oil absorbing properties don't last as long as say... Batiste. But all-in-all you can't really go wrong with these own-brand dry shampoos.

You might expect them to have the same ingredients, other than perfume, obviously, but strangely their ingredients listings differ somewhat, but the performance is the same, I assure you!  Either way they're not what you'd call 'natural' products, but then no aerosol dry shampoos are.  However, being BUAV approved, like all of Superdrug's own-brand products, is very reassuring.

The aerosol function is good, with a wide spray so you can direct the product without overdoing it. It's not especially volumising or thickening, but it's fine for a touch-up after work. The small can (150 ml) fits easily into bags, which is handy, but the downside is it doesn't go very far! Some bigger cans would be great to keep at home, something to think about, Superdrug!
