C.O. Bigelow Apothecaries My Favourite Night Balm No. 306 8 Hour Overnight Recovery (review)

C.O. Bigelow Apothecaries
My Favourite Night Balm No. 306
This night-time lip balm has got quite a shine. When I'm wearing it, it feels as if the only thing I am missing is a street corner upon which to parade. Truth is, it was probably designed with women (rather than men) in mind but a little shine isn't going to do anybody any harm. And actually, I really like this product. It's designed for night-time use and so, really, who cares what it looks like? It is now part of my nightly ritual after applying hand cream and body oil.

The charm of this little beauty is to provide intense overnight moisturisation and - yes! - it does leave my lips looking a treat.

For me the only downside is that lip balms can attract fluff and stray hairs from the pillow, so be careful if the cat's thrown up a fur ball. For me, the results would probably still be worth it. Anything that can plump up my little rubber-band lips is worth a go.

The balm has a lovely, vanilla-like sweet smell (and taste) to it. It goes on with a subtle, barely-there stickiness but the stickiness exists in a way that provides comfort that it is there and moisturising and generally being wonderful. It leaves a satin - rather than high-gloss - shine.

I like the little tube. It is squeezy and has an applicator-tip reminiscent of Clinique's equally-wonderful Superbalm Lip Treatment. Given the choice between the two, I'd re-buy this product. It is slightly cheaper and feels more natural on the lips. I paid £8.50 for a 10 ml tube of this product in a high-end department store though you could probably find it cheaper. It lasts a very, very long time and for that reason I think this product is great value. In fact, when I wake up next morning, it is still on, moisturising its little heart out.

A word on ingredients:  It probably isn't going to be attractive to people who want only natural ingredients in their products because it contains things like petrolatum. It has got a little of everything in it, so I'll end this review by listing what it doesn't include: Cheesecake, quail eggs and finger puppets.

Give it a whirl. I think you might like this one!

Incredibly moisturising

Lasts and lasts
