Schwarzkopf Got2B POWDER'ful Volumising Styling Powder / Mattifying Texture Powder (review)

Schwarzkopf Volumising Styling Powder
Schwarzkopf's Got2B range is abundant with varying styling products, and tested here are their hair powders – one for men, one for women. Except, having bought both to try, I can tell you right from the off that I cannot tell the difference between them. I suspect that other than the packaging design they are otherwise identical, even the ingredients are the same – just in a slightly different order.

So are they any good? These powders are fantastic for creating big up-dos, as they add grip, texture, volume and hold to even the limpest of hair types. They work for long or short hair, men or women, curly or straight styles – or somewhere in-between – in other words, everyone can make use of these little wonder pots, assuming, of course, you can get on with the slightly tacky feel. Other than the feel of the product either during application or whilst on your hair, styling powders have few downsides.

Schwarzkopf Mattifying Texture Powder
Where Schwarzkopf excels from first use, though, is in its application method. Some rival products distribute the powder via one medium-sized hole, which is fine if you add the powder to your hands first and massage into your hair, but if you want to sprinkle it directly onto your roots, Schwarzkopf's multi-hole top is far superior. It's the best set-up I've seen yet, as it prevents the powder from coming out in an overwhelming stream, whilst giving you enough product to cover a wide area quickly and easily.

The latter method is my preferred way of amping up the volume in my hair. I lift up sections of dry hair with one hand, and hold the pot of powder above the roots and shake gently. I then massage it in to blend the white powder into my hair and move to a different section. It takes all of a minute to target either side of my parting, where volume is preferable. To add even greater volume I sprinkle some powder in my hands, rub them together gently and tip my head upside down and sweep my fingers from the mid-lengths to my roots, perhaps even scrunching as I go to emphasise my curls.

Don't believe me? Check out the Got2B video!

They are both unnecessarily fragranced (and it's not especially appealing, either) but the scent isn't overpowering, thankfully. And I do find they can leave a faint white-ish topcoat on dark hair, unless you use the product sparingly and massage in with due care and attention. For extra control wet fingers after application and sculpt specific strands for extra definition. Beware: this method will take away the matte effect and can make hair pretty stiff!

The best news is they're actually a bit cheaper than some other styling powders that don't even perform as well! The good price combined with the ease of use, distinctive branding and reliable performance make the Volumising Styling Powder/Mattifying Texture Powder products a recommended buy, and currently the best of their type on the market.

YES!
NO!
Best dispenser of all the styling powders; so easy to use
Needs careful massaging in/restrained use, or you'll get white patches
Good hold and texture
Fragrance is weird; I'm not keen on it
Well priced, lasts for a while
