Naked Bare Faced Cheek Softening Face Wash (review)

Naked Bare Faced Cheek Softening Face Wash
I didn't know Naked's face care range existed for some time, even though I'd been a fan of their body care products for ages, so I was intrigued to see if their 97% natural formulas translated well to the more sensitive skin on our faces. There is a toner and wipe-off cleanser available, but I've tested their wash-off cleanser made with lovely Damask rose oil.

The translucent gel isn't big on lathering, but it doesn't matter as the gentle foam still cleans well enough, even though I prefer a more thorough feeling clean. It's akin to using cream cleansers. At least it doesn't irritate and should be suitable for even sensitive skin, which is Naked's promise.

It didn't dry my face out (to be fair, few cleansers do with my oily skin type) but I'm sure most people should be fine, considering it doesn't contain alcohol and is artificial fragrance free. Very dry skin types might want to use the water-free cleanser instead and skip the toner, but try it before you dismiss it. Naked has made a slightly softening face wash here, and it does feel indulgent – especially with that strong rose scent! - and without doubt it feels more expensive to use than it actually is.

However, it doesn't look premium at all. I find the packaging very drab, and the two cleansers and toner are hard to differentiate. The blurb on the back is easy to read, though. There are positive exclamations such as “we don't believe in testing our ingredients on Bambi, Lassie or Skippy” - i.e. no animal testing! The packaging is also made of 50% recycled plastic and can, of course, be recycled again. To top it all there are no parabens, sulphates, petrochemicals or silicones.

I liked this wash and would buy it again, except it's getting hard to find on the high street now and I have so many others to get through, anyway! It's definitely one of the gentler face washes on the market, and is certainly the loveliest smelling, but I like a stronger cleansing action on my oily skin. If you aren't afflicted with skin as greasy as mine, it could be perfect.

Gorgeous real rose smell
Packaging looks cheap
Gentle formula won't dry out skin
A light cleanser, rather than a deep one
Not tested on animals

Lots of lovely natural ingredients

Very good value price
