Yes To Cucumbers Soothing Facial Towelettes (review)

I don't know a lot about the uniquely named 'Yes To' range, but it seems to be divided into three sub-sections: cucumber, carrots and tomatoes. The entire collection is cruelty-free, paraben-free and natural. They're mid-high priced and not especially widely available here in the U.K., but seem more prominent in the U.S. I found them in Holland & Barrett but if your local store doesn't stock them the internet is probably your best choice.

Yes To Cucumbers Soothing Facial Towelettes

You get 30 biggish, thickish wipes per pack (sealed with a label and a plastic lid to keep them moist) and speaking of the packaging, I love the design! The green wrapping is distinctive and fun and I love the fresh smell of cucumbers so it's a win-win situation. These wipes remind me of a simple salad in the nicest possible way. They feel and smell like they're good for you, but are arguably more exciting than a lettuce leaf. There are two languages on the back – English and French – but they're clearly separated so shouldn't confuse people.

The wipes are just wet enough to cleanse effectively, too, sweeping away oil and daily grime rather effortlessly (and without shredding fibres everywhere). They struggle with some make-up, but remove light layers of primer and foundation without too much stress. My skin feels fresher after use, too, and not at all dry. I'm very impressed.

While the ingredients listings are 98% natural, there is 'parfum'. However, there are also some organic ingredients to help make up for it and reassuringly each towelette is made with compostable, FSC certified fabric. As stated above there's no parabens included (or SLS or petroleum-based ingredients) and they're kind to animals and biodegradable.

£6 is a bit expensive for face cleansing wipes, but not excessively so bearing in mind the excellent cleansing performance, fresh feeling and natural ingredients. Yes, you can match the performance for less money (see our alternative suggestion below for a good example) but I'm intrigued enough to try other products from the Yes To range. With any luck they'll be on more store's shelves by the end of the year.
