Make-At-Home Cosmetics: Indulgent Brown Sugar and Almond Body Scrub (tutorial)

Nothing says ‘indulgent’ like brown sugar. Think of this as a creme brûlée for the skin; a rich, comforting go-to that seems almost too good to be true. But, it isn’t—and here’s the proof. The key here is picking the right kind of sugar. This isn’t a time to get snobby—really, anything fine will do. The larger granules are best avoided because they can be scratchy on the skin—though they might be great for foot scrubs.

Ingredients
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of ground nutmeg
Olive oil

Utensils
A small plastic jug or pot

Method
Simply mix the ingredients in a plastic jug or pot and use right away. If you don’t have a plastic pot, you can substitute for something else, though remember you’ll be better off using something bathroom friendly because the olive oil can make this quite slippery.

After massaging into the skin, concentrating on dry areas such as the elbows and knees, either rinse straight off or allow the mixture to absorb into the bathwater to soften the entire body.
