L'Occitane Immortelle Brightening Hand Care SPF 15 (review)

Hand creams with sunscreen included are more prevalent now than they have been, but they're still not as widely available as I'd like. A lot of people don't think to protect their hands from the sun, yet they're exposed to UV-rays as much as our faces are (except perhaps in winter when you might wear gloves).

L'Occitane Immortelle Brightening Hand Care SPF 15

L'Occitane offer an Immortelle cream just for hands. Immortelle is their anti-ageing collection and the addition of SPF 15 means this is theoretically the perfect cream to tackle uneven skin tone, protect from further damage and reduce signs of ageing.

Immortelle is a flower with exceptional longevity: it never fades, even when picked. Its organic essential oil is rich in active molecules ith unique anti-ageing results.

Bellis Perennis, the daisy flower, offers a brightening extract that contributes to regulate melanin production”

L'Occitane suggest you apply this natural cream to the backs of clean, dry hands. I suspect this is because while it doesn't feel oily, getting it on your palms can leave a film on them which means turning door knobs becomes problematic!

Massaging this into your skin is pleasant enough – the pure white cream smells lovely but it does leave an obvious sheen. This fades after a couple of minutes but the fragrance lingers for much longer. I don't notice any immediate improvements other than increased softness.

With continued use, however, I did notice my hands looked brighter and felt smoother. The results are subtle at best, but any result is worthwhile, no other cream has improved the condition of my hands. What I really love about this cream is the protection it offers. I slather this on at work everyday and the security SPF 15 brings is worthwhile.

It's not a cheap option, though. Admittedly the box is a classy touch (complete with Braille for the blind!) but it's unnecessary. Yes, the tube looks expensive which is more than you can say about most hand creams. It's definitely a luxury product, but still, it's £22! That's more than some natural face cream. I must have been feeling indulgent the day I ordered this, but I don't regret it!

YES!
NO!
Hands do looker smoother and brighter after a month
Hands look a little shiny after application
Nice fragrance
Too expensive
Loads of natural ingredients; nothing horrible added

SPF is a welcome bonus
