Caudalie Parfum Divin de Caudalie Paris Eau de Parfum (review)

Parfum Divin de Caudalie Paris Eau de Parfum
I don't buy Caudalie products too often because they're a little expensive, but I'm a fan of the brand and always found their range to be effective and desirable: they're always a treat. I'm fond of the Caudalie Huile Divine Body Oil and they have cottoned onto the fact there's an opportunity to exploit that scent.

So here we have Parfum Divin de Caudalie Paris. The essence of Caudalie, bottled and boxed. I snapped it up straight away (a reasonable £40) and have been using this scent regularly since it arrived. Described as “sensual and delicate” it's classified as a floral woody musk. It's “the first perfume created by Mathilde Thomas with master perfumer Jacques Cavallier”.

Initial impressions were positive. Yes, it's faithful to Caudalie Huile Divine Body Oil, but seems to have a little more musk. The warmth and sweetness draw you in straight away; it's delicate and alluring but rather simple. Not that this is a bad thing, I like its unfussy, melting character. We're often bombarded with 'statement' fragrances but this is the antithesis of those with an inherent softness which beguiles the senses and soothes the mind.

It's made up of rose, white musk and vanilla to start. This evolves into a sophisticated sweetness of Bulgarian rose absolute, Moroccan rose essence, Virginia cedar, grapefruit and spicy pink pepper. Parfum Divin doesn't seem to evolve in the same way as most fragrances. The top, middle and base notes all seem to develop gradually which only adds to the gentle, dreamy quality of the scent.

Lasting power is excellent as you might expect from a premium eau de parfum, although sillage is well contained which suits the nature of this perfume perfectly. It's a clean-feeling, summer nights kind of fragrance, ideal for wearing everyday just to smell lovely. Anyone of any age could wear this, it's very accessible.

The bottle is a divine as the name suggest. It's got a beautiful, weighty real-wood cap which is just effortlessly sophisticated and a graduated gold tinted bottle. The overall effect is wonderful; it's one of my all-time favourite designs. The box impresses, too, with its subtle design and gold accents – it's very high quality, too.

This has been a fantastic purchase, I'm so glad I got it (bought 'blind', so to speak, too!). The scent is versatile and beautifully dreamy, the packaging even more so and all this joy for only £40? What a bargain. If you've tried this scent yourself I'd love to know what you think.
