Boots Paradise Island & Original Dry Shampoos (review)

I didn't really like Boots Expert Dry Shampoo. The spray was indirect, the white powder was too hard to disguise and it wasn't great at absorbing oil. Since then Boots have introduced these non-Expert versions, and I'll tell you now: they're a definite improvement.

Boots Paradise Island & Original Dry Shampoos

For a start the spray nozzle is far easier to direct and there are new fragrances to enjoy. I say 'enjoy'... both Original and Paradise Island scented dry shampoos could only be described as nondescript but they'll do. Everyone likes variety, but for me Paradise island is too artificial-berry like so I'll stick with Original.

The whiteness of the powder doesn't seem improved giving my red hair a very slight ghostly tint. It's only noticeable in certain lights, though, and sleeping on it removes any powdery residue you couldn't brush out the night before. What I have noticed is how soft my hair feels. It's not a drying dry shampoo which is great.

Other plus points include decent thickening properties (without giving you too much of a chalky, clogged-up feeling in your hair, either) and it has good oil-absorbing properties. My hair is naturally oily and even with a repeat application of Boots Dry Shampoo I find my hair does start to get limp towards the end of the day. Most people won't have a problem, though.

They're affordable products, too, with each retailing for just £2.29. The 200 ml can seems to last a while, making them excellent value for money. While they're not the best dry shampoos I've ever tried, at this price I'm not complaining. I'd rather use the money I saved buying these perfectly adequate products and use it on face care instead. For that reason I'm off to Boots to get some more!

YES!
NO!
Absorb oil effectively; hair looks revived
Both fragrances are generic and strong
Hair feels thicker with added volume
Tricky to brush out completely
Extremely well-priced; great value
