The Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Eye Cream (review)

I'm a big fan of The Body Shop's Nutriganics range (their Drops of Youth serum is truly wonderful!). This eye cream appeals because it's 99% natural, certified 50% organic by EcoCert, made with some fair trade ingredients and isn't tested on animals by The Body Shop – but parent company L'Oréal does exactly that, which tars them somewhat. The packaging is FSC-certified.

The Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Eye Cream
The pump dispenser is easy to use making application quick and mess-free. The cream itself is a soft-beige colour and sparkles a little. Its light texture means it won't drag the skin and it absorbs quickly. If you accidentally get it in your eyes it shouldn't irritate (I wasn't affected) and it's suitable for all skin types, but is designed for the first signs of ageing; between the ages of 30 and 40.

The Body Shop say this cream is good for smoothing, moisturising and refreshing the skin around the eyes. The light texture is pretty refreshing and the skin is definitely moisturised and softer after application but the anti-ageing claim is hard to verify. I fit the age bracket it's aimed at but haven't noticed any differences.

I wouldn't normally say an effective £15 eye cream isn't good value, but with Dr. Organic from Holland & Barrett giving you 30 ml (twice the amount) of amazing Instant Tightening Eye Serum for under £12, The Body Shop's rival product starts to look pricey. At least a little goes a long way so it should last you a while.

Ultimately it's the increased competition that stops this eye cream from being the default choice. It's a perfectly good product but with so many rivals creating organic alternatives that perform just as well (if not better!) for less money, then it becomes harder to recommend. The Body Shop faithful love it – and quite right, too – and it's been a pleasure to use but it's not our top choice.

YES!
NO!
Skin feels smoother and softer
No obvious anti-ageing action
Non-irritating, suitable for all skin types
Quite expensive
A natural option
