Natio For Men Spice of Life Body Wash (review)

Natio Spice of Life Body Wash

I don't make a habit of buying men's products, it must be said, but this came as part of a set I bought as a gift. Unfortunately, said gift was badly packaged and arrived on my door step smashed! There were three damaged products inside, this body wash, a face wash and an oil-free face moisturiser.

First impressions: the packaging itself. It's fairly typical of men's products in that it's free of any superfluous adornments and is fairly neutrally coloured. A flip-cap lid is the order of the day. It's all very simple and functional and that's absolutely fine.

Second impressions: the product inside. I was surprised by how watery it is; a light squeeze and the contents streamed from the tube! It's a lovely golden amber colour but the fragrance is what makes the biggest impression – it's very strong – it's not unpleasant but is definitely more masculine than I'm used to, with strong accents of sage, clove and pepper. Most men should love it.

Third impressions: using the body wash. It lathers up really well with a mountain of foamy bubbles from only a little product. Natio claim it “cleanses, softens and removes dead skin cells”. Cleanses? Yes. Exfoliates? A little. Softens? Not really. It's not drying, but most rival products I've tried have left my skin softer. Few leave it smelling as scented as this, though; it was so strong I was worried it would interfere with my perfume!

Final thoughts… It's versatile, being suitable for both the shower and running a bath. At £6.40 it's not unreasonably priced, either, bearing in mind its more natural make-up (no parabens, SLS/SLES or propylene glycol). While this has been designed for all skin types I'm concerned that the extra-strong scent might irritate sensitive skin; but for most other people it should be gentle enough. While I'm not taken by the fragrance on myself, I would gladly smell it on a man.

YES!
